What is anti-ageing muscle relaxing injection Botox®?

Botox® is a muscle relaxant that works by relaxing the muscles on the face and the neck. It helps to reduce the lines and smoothens the skin in the upper face.

Which areas are treated with Botox® in the face?

Areas treated include frown (lines between the eyebrows, sometimes referred as ‘’eleven lines’’, crow’s feet ( lines around the eyes, sometimes referred as ‘’laughter lines or smile lines’’), bunny lines( lines around the upper part of the nose), eyebrow lift, mentalis( a muscle in the chin that causes cobble stoning when it contracts excessively), smokers’ lines( lines above the upper lip that appear due to ageing but prematurely in individuals who smoke) and in the lips ( referred as “ lip flip’’ to open the mouth corners or improve the lip definition). Botox® can also be used to treat the resistant pores in the skin of the face.

What does the neck treatment of Botox® involve?

Botox® treatment of the neck is commonly referred as ‘Nefertiti lift’ and involves injecting Botox® in the Platysmal bands (also referred as the ‘’turkey neck’’) and the masseter muscles. It makes the neck look smooth, improves the lines and gives it tightness.

When does Botox® start working and how long does it last?

We use the originally brand of Botulinum toxin type A (Botox®). This usually starts working in a few days, has the best effect in 1 to 2 weeks and lasts for 3 to 4 months. We offer free top up one to two weeks after the treatment.

What are the side effects of Botox®?

Side effects of Botox® are uncommon. These side effects include bruising, eyebrow/eyelid drop, facial asymmetry and headache.

Can other treatments be used in addition to Botox® to treat lines in the upper face?

If you have dynamic lines (lines visible only visible with facial expressions), only Botox® is required. However, if you have static lines (lines present even without any facial expressions), then dermal fillers may be required in
addition to Botox®.

What is the aftercare following Botox® treatment?

You will be given specific after care instructions after the treatment and these will also be emailed to you. These include not to lie down or bend for 4 hours, no exercises for 24 hours and no deep facial massage for 1 week.
